The new music of TORRES is a captivating illustration of an outcast. Read what Ann Powers’ (of NPR’s All Songs Considered) has to say about Sprinter,
Every child who’s crushed grass beneath sneakers knows what it’s like to wish the race could take her into open space. “Sprinter” creates that free zone, circles back on it, and ends up on a finish line of its own creation.

Sprinter impacts radio in April!
In their recap of SXSW, the writers at Glide Magazine recall Low Cut Connie among the highlights,
With so much great rock and roll at this year’s SXSW it’s hard to pick one favorite, but if forced to choose my favorite act, I would probably say Low Cut Connie took the cake. Give these Philly cats a bigger stage and a decent sound system and there’s no telling what they’re capable of.

Hi Honey is spinning at radio NOW!
Under the Radar like, everyone else out there, is celebrating the news that MG aka Martin Gore (Founding father of Depeche Mode) is releasing his self-titled solo album set to release 4/28 via Mute Records.
According to their sources, MG’s birth began during Depeche Mode’s Delta Machine tour in back in March 2013 at his home studio in Santa Barbara.

VILLAGERS’ Connor O’Brien bears all in the latest interview with I-D:
“[Darling Arithmetic is ]… a far more stripped back and naked album to their two previous records, both of which were nominated for The Mercury Prize, O’Brien’s honest collection of songs feels like a coming of age album while allowing him, at times, to fall to pieces… Tackling his personal demons and speaking openly about the difficulties that come with being in a same sex relationship, and the pressures of dealing with “homophobes” and “bigots”. Through his music, Conor, although perhaps unintentionally, offers advice and solace to young couples, be they straight, gay or otherwise.”

American Songwriter calls Diamond Rugs’ 2nd release Cosmetics out now on Sycamore / Thirty Tigers “a minor miracle”:
“It seems like a minor miracle that there’s a second Diamond Rugs record to even write about…. The result is fluid, seamless rock and roll that shows each player doing some of his best work….This is the rock and roll hivemind operating at peak efficiency, making tunes that are bigger than the sum of their parts.”
Their go-tracks include the ‘languid and haunting’ “Ain’t Religon”, ‘the heart-string pulling’ “Killing Time” and “Thunk”.

SYFFAL writer Christopher Bell has had it with the weak comparisons to Fleet Foxes or Mumford & Sons for the beloved band Bombadil:
“The band has been regularly compared to groups like Fleet Foxes and the Mumford & Sons, but I think that comparison is, at best, unhelpful and, at worst, somewhat insulting to the guys in Bombadil… Hold On is full of experiments in time and melody that put them a lot closer (in the modern environment) to groups like Dirty Projectors or Menomena… Bombadil engage the soul, but are more concerned with leaving the brain tingly.”
