Artist Info: Brian Hill's debut album, and the Noh Starrs, was released Friday August 18th via Modern Sky USA. Noh Starrs is Brian Hill's love/hate letter to New York, an exploration of his life and experiences in the city, and the anguish of having to leave it to love it. In his songs, he writes about his experiences surviving his first few years in the city, the surreality of New York City life, and the intriguing characters he met along the way both in New York and while traveling around the world - a stalker, a friend called Sarah, and the city itself as a living entity. The songs can appear manic at times, and meditative at others - just like the way this city makes him feel.
On the full length are featured Joo Joo Asheworth (Froth) and his sister Sasami (Cherry Glazerr), Laena Geronimo (Feels), and Thomas Dolas (Mr. Elevator), who produced the record. The band weaves Hill's candid lyrics into a sound that lives in the realms of glam, no-wave, and rock and roll. In the studio, the recording process often involved incorporating many versions of live takes a-la-CAN, as well as experimenting with studio as-an-instrument production techniques.
