Artist Info: Seattle’s Fotoform create dreamy guitar-based post-punk, picking up where their previous incarnation as C’est la Mort left off. Propelled forward by Kim House’s melodic bass and Garrett Croxon’s (Fleet Foxes, Erik Blood) driving backbeat, Kim’s vocals glide over intertwining guitars from Geoff Cox and Stephen Jones (Red Martian). Taking their name from a mid-century avant-garde photography movement, Fotoform recall the gauzy atmospheres and drive of the ‘80s UK underground (The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Lush, Chameleons, Slowdive, Siouxsie and the Banshees) with the immediacy of US indie and post-punk.

Fotoform refine and build on the shoegaze/darkwave sound of C’est la Mort, who enjoyed critical success in the US and especially Europe. C'est la Mort released one album (Empty Words Fill Lonely Spaces), an EP, and contributed to a number of compilations (including Please Please Please: A Tribute to The Smiths, alongside left-of-the-dial all-stars Doug Martsch, Stars, Telekinesis, Wedding Present, etc). Kim, Geoff and Garrett joined with Stephen to form Fotoform in 2016.

A captivating and arresting live band, Fotoform’s self-titled debut LP, recorded by Scott Colburn (Arcade Fire, Animal Collective) and Jakael Tristram (at Robert Lang Studios), has drawn comparisons to the British post-punk and shoegaze greats, and follows an ultra-limited hand-lathed acetate 7” single. The album is already receiving critical attention from The Big Takeover and more.
