Rising star and singer-songwriter Emmaline will be releasing a new EP on March 24th and she has some exciting news to share! Emmaline will be featured in the upcoming, NBA-sponsored film, "Sweetwater," in theaters nationwide on April 14.
Actress in Upcoming NBA Movie to Release New EP
Twenty-four-year-old singer-songwriter Emmaline will be releasing her 3rd EP on March 24 and starring in the upcoming biopic “Sweetwater,” releasing in theaters nationwide on April 14.
“Sweetwater” tells the story of Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, the first African American basketball player to sign an NBA contract. Emmaline plays fictional jazz singer, Jeanne Staples, who becomes friends with Sweetwater after he meets her in a jazz club. In addition to acting and performing in the movie, Emmaline is featured throughout the movie soundtrack alongside GRAMMY-winning blues guitarist and vocalist, Gary Clark Jr. Here is a link to the movie trailer: https://youtu.be/c9pITIfdLNo
The movie release will follow on the heels of the debut of Emmaline’s third EP, “Retro Kind of Love,” releasing March 24 with a kick-off show in her home state at the famed Indianapolis Jazz Kitchen. The tour will commence with stops in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Charleston, Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Emmaline is also slated to perform at the world-renowned San Francisco Jazz Festival in June.
From performing as the opening act for 10-time GRAMMY winner Chaka Khan to being featured in top music publications such as “Rolling Stone” and “American Songwriter,” vocalist, violinist and songwriter Emmaline has accomplished an impressive laundry list of achievements. Her debut EP “All My Sweetest Dreams” and sophomore release “Necessity” have generated millions of streams on Spotify alone. Fusing the worlds of jazz, blues and pop, Emmaline incorporates her virtuosic, blues violin playing with jazz-infused pop vocals inspired by the voices of Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone to create a modern-retro sound that’s all her own.
