After releasing his first solo endeavor in 2019 - the Willie Waldman produced "Wildlife" EP - (I)deal spent his Covid quarantine time recording a new album with his band of the past 12+ years, Midwest Hype - the "Nightglow" LP, as well as crafting what would become his first full - length solo album "Scatterbrained.”
Produced by his partner in rhyme Pooney, "Scatterbrained" is a lyrical and sonic tour-de-force; heavy on substance and wordplay, with a soulful foundation based in the beats, rhymes, and life ethos of the golden age of hip-hop that had such a heavy influence on him being a late 80’s baby.
Over Pooney’s beautifully orchestrated, sample-based, live-instrument-layered production (I)deal weaves dense narratives of a hard-headed youth who started selling drugs at age 12, pouring all his resources into the musical career he believed he was destined for, with one it foot firmly planted in NWIN Gary streets he came up on while simultaneously moonwalking through the tumultuous ups and downs of the music industry industry as an instant artist.
Featuring guest verses from some of the most well-respected and revered emcee ever to grasp the mic, such as Benny The Butcher, Mick Jenkins and the late Gift of Gab, (I)deal pens a love letter to hip-hop with "Scatterbrained," paying homage to its past while reinforcing his position as a vanguard and forefront for the next generation of poetical emcees.
